TEMPORARY BLOOD CLOT
How’s this for a saga. We were starting to move on Thurs last when I started feeling bloody awful. Went to hospital and they kept me in with suspected pulmonary embolism (Bit nasty – they can make you dead). Checked everything and found no blood clot but it was difficult as they had about 16 goes at getting blood from an artery to do a test. 10 times they hit a nerve so now my left arm doesn’t work and is bruised to buggery. It was entirely my fault as I have veins, nerves and arteries twisted where they shouldn’t be. As per normal the docs, nurses and everyone else were superb, highly professional and a lot of fun. Loads of scans etc but result was that they thought it could be down to the chemo so after 24 hours I gave them a half ultimatum and they agreed that I could leave. All this time Kim was having to do the move because we had a van booked. Friday afternoon I came out and found that the people who had put the central heating in had subsequently condemned the boiler as unsafe so we had no heating or hot water. No problem, they would bring out heaters and we could use the immersion heater for water. The 6 phone calls obviously didn’t convince them so the heaters didn’t arrive and the immersion heater cable had been cut under the floorboards by the cretins who had done the plumbing. A propos cretins, the brand new loo leaked and started coming through the kitchen ceiling. The when we eventually got hot water the bath did the same. Guess what. The kitchen sink had an open pipe so when we used that it flooded the kitchen. The plumber hadn’t turned up so we have no gas cooker. Monday morning I went to my regular Cancer clinic thinking I would stop the chemo for a while but when they examined me they figured that the problem is a clot caused by the implant I had done in France so back on Tuesday for special X Ray with the instant Bali injection (had about 6 this time so it was even more like being on a sunny beach. Excellent radiographer and assistants who showed me all the movies of the dye going through my system until it stopped when it shouldn’t. Eureka! A blood clot about 2 inches by one so hopefully that is the cause of the chest pains dizziness and general feeling of being a numb thing. Back up to the Cancer Wizard and his assistants and after much jocularity it was decided that pending a visit to the Cardio Vascular Wizard I should start taking anti coagulants by injection into the stomach. The real hoot is I get to do it myself. Just done the first one and whilst it’s really easy I am now damn sure I could never become a junkie.. More anon when my head returns to something like normal.
